As I look back on this year, I cannot tell you enough how VERY PROUD I am of you. Believe it or not, in my rough estimation of the outreach events we have held this year (not counting our Ministry through Neighborhood Needs, the YMCA, or Girl Scouts) we reached well over 1000 people in our community! Yes, you read that right. Together, we have been the presence of Jesus to over 1000 people in our community. You have loved them. People have been cared for by you. Countless numbers from old to young have been literally fed and nourished by you! Jesus, right now, is smiling down upon you and saying, “Well done, my good and faithful servant. Well done.”
My brothers and sisters, next year we will reach more. Even as I type this I am working on old and new partnerships that will lead us into better and more powerful contact with our community. This is why you and your gifts are so important because you are the church! Through your work, the work you do out of the love you have for Christ and He has for you. People are meeting Jesus! We have had several visitors, repeat ones at that, who are coming because of your work in our community. Again, from the depths of my heart, thank you!
Next year we will begin a new chapter in our ministry at Christ. We will be launching Vision 20/20! Together, with Ron Keck and our DCE, Stephanie Pittock, we will be looking ahead to our future and defining better who we are and why we exist and charting a new course for exciting mission and ministry for generations to come. Please keep this process in your prayers, and your help will be very much appreciated.
I wish to, once again, thank each of you who continue to support my ongoing education! This summer, I will be beginning the next step in my program as I start my practicum and internship. God is so very good!
If you have not done so, please pick up your Advent family devotional book in the narthex. These will also serve to set our themes for our Wednesday and Sunday Advent services. I pray your Advent journey to the manger of Jesus will fill you with the power and transformation of the Holy Spirit and the love of Jesus!
I do hope that in the hustle and bustle of this season, you may find peace and make time to worship Jesus, who is the TRUE reason for the season! After all, every gift we are able to give and every gift we get is truly all made possible by a loving Father who provides all we need and more, even our eternity in Jesus Christ. May God bless you this season with peace and joy from the manger. Thanks again for all you do. I love you more than words can say.
In the shadow of the cross,
